Program Notes:
5 a.m., subtitled an exploration of the Early Morning Hours, is a sort of tribute to early hours of the day, before the sun has risen, and during the time in which the moon is beginning to make its way down. Around the time of writing this work, I was waking up early all the time for some reason, specifically, around the time of 5 in the morning, and always found a certain amount of peace in this time of day. There was no urgency to get up and do anything, it was quiet, and the feeling of being the only one around who was awake and conscious (to my knowledge) was very freeing to me. So, with that being my experience, I decided to try and recreate the emotions, and the atmosphere of these moments in this peace… I hope you enjoy 5 a.m.
