Program Notes:
Love, Light, and Darkness, is a piece for Symphonic Winds and Piano that attempts to showcase various ideas, and emotions across a single piece, the emotion being love, and the ideas being Light, and Darkness. The light and darkness are approached not in a way that compares the two or puts the two in a sort of “fight” as is usually done, like in Ticheli’s Angels in the Architecture, or my earlier work for band Lux in Tenebris, but rather, it simply puts the listener through a journey, or really, an exploration of love, light, and darkness.
