Program Notes:
A Beautiful Cacophony is a piece for eight brass inspired by another piece
called Angels by composer Carl Ruggles. His piece is set for muted brass and pushes the boundaries as far as chamber brass music is concerned, using many extended harmonies and a vast range of dynamics. This piece tries to capture the same extended harmonic technique mentioned before, whilst also exploring the chamber brass medium at the same time.
