A Major Variations

for Solo Alto Saxophone

Instrumentation:

  • Solo Eb Alto Saxophone

Program Notes:

A Major Variations, is a piece for Solo Eb Alto Saxophone that
tries to showcase four different states of being, Innocence, Solemnity,
Manic, and Calm. Innocence is shown in the somewhat timid first
movement which walks up and down the A Major scale in a solid ebb
and flow of volume. Solemnity shows the state of being solemn with a
slow tune that contains hints of F# minor as a small hint of fresh air for
the listener and player. Manic represents the sort of bombastic intensity
that people often feel while under immense stress, and finally, Calm,
represents the idea of “the calm after the storm” in the sweet singing of a
very linear song. I hope you find the emotions in this piece to be
interesting, and find the music to be fitting, please enjoy … A Major
Variations.
