Beloved

for Solo Tenor Saxophone

Instrumentation:

  • Solo Tenor Saxophone

Program Notes:

Beloved – Four Songs for Tenor Saxophone, is a quiet, introspective set of four somewhat poetic movements for unaccompanied tenor saxophone. The four distinct movements are not songs in the sense that they have words, or follow a strict songlike structure, but instead, they are songs in the sense of their poetic nature, and their somewhat communicative nature. They are the overall quiet whispering and speaking of a lone voice – maybe a romantic, maybe a comic, or perhaps an unabashed fellow, or a strict loner. Either way – these ‘songs’ are a great vehicle for the saxophone as a solo voice.
