Program Notes:
Subtitled, “Meditation and Rejuvenation,” Blue Tide for Concert Band is a tribute to the ocean, and the tide of the sea. The meditation section is plaintive and longing, calling to the qualities of the ocean that are beauty, and serenity. The rejuvenation section is more grand in nature, and shows a renewed sense of energy towards the ocean. The final moments of the piece call back to the initial meditation section, and it all ends with a broad stroke of nothingness in the Gong that resembles a sort of inner peace that has been found because of the ocean, and the tide.
