Program Notes:
Much like Ticheli does in his second symphony, each of the movements in Celestial Suite deal with the forms of celestial light, those being the moon, the stars and the sun. The calming mood of the moon gives way to the exciting energy of the stars, until finally shifting towards the quite foreboding and massive sun that rises to signal a new day… once it is risen, birds begin to chirp and calm washes over.
