Program Notes:
Chromatic Aberrations is a three-movement suite for Saxophone Quartet
that is based on chromaticism and the minor second interval itself. The first
movement, Interruptions, sees each member of the ensemble interrupting each other with chromatic, angular lines. A movement titled Silence follows this, and it is filled with lots of linear, chromatic playing, and many moments of uncomfortable silence. Lastly, is the Fantasy, lots of angular lines, chromatic runs, and unison playing pervade this movement.
