Emmaline contains the subtitle “a dedication to the muse” as in a sense, it
tells the story of the praising, and loss of the muse that often inspires us. In this case, I use the name “Emmaline” to represent the muse, and in the text describe the beauty of such a thing, however, the lyrics change at around the halfway point of the piece with the phrase “for the day when you’ll come back to me” suggesting that this muse has been gone, and the artist (singer) is awaiting the return. The piece ends in a questionable manner with the uncertainty of what will become of the muse.
This piece acts as a sort of tribute to the creative process that can be, at
times, frustrating, and at times rewarding and satisfying for us creators in the world, whether we be composers, singers, writers, or what have you, we all are inspired by something, and this piece is my tribute to my muse as a composer.
