Program Notes:
Four Songs was written for my good friend, and Trumpet player Silvia
Wardell. The inspiration came to write four different types of “songs” all with
different feels, all with different emotions, but similar in their featuring of the
Trumpet. The suite of songs has a typical simple song, an elegy, a rapid and
energetic dance, and finally, a very sweet lullaby. All provide the audience with a different experience and taste, making this a vast charcuterie board of music.
