Program Notes:
Lullaby for Spring is a short, but effective work for the young and
developing concert band, that seeks to give each section a moment toshine, whilst also exploring interesting orchestration, harmony, and color within the ensemble.
Spring is one of my favorite times of the year, and I find that one of the greatest parts about this time of the year is temperature. So often in the spring, the temperature sits just right and it is not too cool, or too hot. Beyond just feeling good, I have found it makes falling asleep, for naps or what have you so much easier than in the other seasons, where it may be too cold, or too hot, so Lullaby for Spring is a sort of song of slumber that accompanies a dreamer as they doze off in the spring season – perhaps in their comfortable bed, or in a shady spot under a tree.
