Program Notes:
Oddities is my second piece for Brass Quintet and is an exploration of more
quirky and unusual techniques, both with the instruments and their ranges and techniques, and harmonically in the music itself and how it is composed. While writing it this piece, I was imagining a sort of “outer space” adventure in some sense, filled with a little bit of confusion, a little bit of uncertainty, but also, a little bit of adventure in some sense, almost giving the listener and performers an attempt to try to uncover the “oddities” of the music.
