Program Notes:
Old Soul is inspired by the great early swing ballad, Early Autumn,
originally played by Woody Herman and His Orchestra. Some of the harmonies and pacing are particularly inspired by the Herman piece, but otherwise, the bulk of this work is truly original and is meant to be peppered with a bit of nostalgia and charm. While listening, one may find the enjoyment coming primarily from their own thoughts and ideas about the past and what it meant to them, the music is not flashy and really not a show piece, but merely serves as a soft harmonic pad to ruminate on the past.
