Program Notes:
Premonitions is a piece that was written to showcase the Horn, which to me,
can often be beautiful and grand, but can also be solemn and alarming in nature. The piece acts as a set of premonitions before the loss of something, something like that of death. The music also showcases a sort of depiction of the grieving process – going from the solemn realization of loss to the alarming and growing anxieties after loss, and finally a small moment of acceptance of what once was. It is my hope that this music can bring some comfort to the listener, while also
bringing to light other emotions that hide beneath our everyday feelings.
