Program Notes:
Three for Three, is a suite of three miniatures for a brass trio comprised of
Bb Trumpet, F Horn, and Trombone. This work has three distinct movements
titled, Prelude, Ballad, and Celebration. The first movement, Prelude, consists of stately rhythms and lively harmonies in the key of Bb Major, setting the stage for a work of many colors. Next, the Ballad movement features a haunting melody, with minor harmonies creating a dark backdrop for a sorrowful expression of grief Finally, the last movement, Celebration, is a release of great joy to finish off the piece.
