Program Notes:
Two Romantic Scenes was written around the middle of January 2024, and I
found that its creation, like many of my pieces, relied heavily on film music,
particularly music used in romance cues from Hollywood films of the golden age – think late 40s and 50s, even into the early 60s. Film composers like Waxman, Herrmann, and Newman come to mind immediately. At times, the music takes on a beautiful, whimsical quality, and at other points, a more somber quality, perhaps longing for romance. In all ways however, the music is meant to be very intimate and emotional, and I hope that this comes across the through the writing.
